Zoe Levert’s story is one of music, faith, creativity, and a willingness to follow where the next opportunity leads. Raised in and around New Orleans in a musical family, Zoe grew up surrounded by both the sounds of Louisiana and the influence of the church. She began playing piano by ear at a young age, joined her school’s jazz band and choir, and eventually became a worship leader herself while still in middle school. Along the way, she developed a passion for songwriting, building an impressive catalog of original material while sharing her music online with an ever-growing audience.
In 2024, Zoe’s journey took her to a much bigger stage when she appeared on Season 25 of NBC’s The Voice. Performing on Team Legend, she earned a spot on John Legend’s team with her Blind Audition performance of “Better Man,” then advanced through the Battle, Knockout and Playoff rounds to become one of the season’s Top 12. Her time on The Voice introduced Zoe to an entirely new audience while giving her an experience that would become an important chapter in her development as an artist.
But Nashville had been on Zoe’s heart long before she officially moved there. She had visited the city as a teenager and returned over the years to write songs, meet other musicians, and build relationships within the Nashville music community. Following her time on The Voice, Zoe and her husband Ryan eventually made the move to Nashville, where she is now building the next chapter of her career. She has connected with the Nashville songwriting community, signed with By Design Music, and is developing new music that brings together her storytelling, pop-folk influences, and faith.
That Nashville connection makes Zoe’s story especially meaningful here at FishWorship. Nashville is not simply a place where music happens—it is home to an extraordinary community of artists, songwriters, musicians and creators. Working with and helping local artists here in Nashville has always held a special place in our hearts, and we love seeing artists like Zoe bring their unique stories, talents and faith into the Nashville music scene.
Zoe also brings something particularly refreshing to her music: she doesn’t feel the need to separate her faith from the rest of her life. Her catalog can include songs about Jesus alongside songs about relationships, growing up, heartbreak and everyday experiences. As she has described it, she wants to authentically honor both the people who know her as a worship leader and those who discovered her through The Voice. For FishWorship, that honest intersection of faith and real life is a big part of what makes Zoe an artist worth watching.

“Girl Dad”

“Girl Dad” is one of those songs that immediately stands out because of its wonderfully personal premise. Zoe Levert turns the simple phrase “girl dad” into a celebration of the unique relationship between a father and his daughters, capturing the humor, tenderness and everyday moments that make that relationship so special. Rather than trying to make the subject bigger than it needs to be, Zoe lets the song’s personality and honesty do the work.
There is something especially refreshing about the way Zoe approaches the subject. “Girl Dad” feels conversational and genuine, filled with the kind of observations that can make a very personal story feel familiar to anyone who has watched a daughter grow up—or experienced the sometimes hilarious role of being the dad who is surrounded by girls. It is a fun reminder that some of life’s most meaningful moments are found in the ordinary ones.
The song also shows another side of Zoe as a songwriter. While much of her music can explore faith and deeper subjects, “Girl Dad” demonstrates her ability to find something worth singing about in everyday life. It is upbeat, relatable and unmistakably her own, giving listeners another reason to connect with Zoe beyond the bigger stages and television appearances that have been part of her journey.
The accompanying music video brings that personality to life, making “Girl Dad” an especially natural fit for the FishWorship Essential Songs collection. It is simply a really cool song—and one that gives us a chance to see the fun, authentic side of an artist whose Nashville story is only beginning.

“Dear Carpenter”

“Dear Carpenter” is one of Zoe Levert’s most personal expressions of faith, built around a beautiful and immediately recognizable image: Jesus as the Carpenter. Zoe takes that familiar biblical picture and turns it into an intimate conversation with Christ, asking Him to repair the broken places in her life that she cannot fix on her own.
There is something wonderfully vulnerable about the song. Rather than presenting faith as having everything figured out, Zoe approaches Jesus with the honesty of someone who knows she needs to be restored. The Carpenter becomes a picture of redemption, mercy and grace—the One who can take what is damaged and make it whole again. It is a simple concept, but Zoe gives it a deeply personal voice.
“Dear Carpenter” also captures something that makes Zoe’s music particularly interesting: her ability to bring faith into a modern, approachable songwriting style without losing the heart of the message. The song feels conversational and contemporary, while its central message points directly toward Jesus and the transforming power of His grace.
The accompanying music video gives the song another dimension, allowing Zoe’s personality and storytelling to complement the message of the song itself. For FishWorship, “Dear Carpenter” is an especially natural choice for Zoe’s Essential Songs—a beautiful example of the faith that is at the heart of her story and her music.

“Sharing Jesus with an Ex”

“Sharing Jesus With an Ex” may have one of the most unexpected titles in Zoe Levert’s catalog, but the story behind it is deeply sincere. Zoe takes an uncomfortable and complicated situation—remaining connected to someone from a past relationship—and looks at it through the lens of faith. What happens when you still care about someone, even after the relationship has ended, and you want that person to know the same Jesus who has changed your own life?
What makes the song particularly interesting is that Zoe doesn’t approach the subject with bitterness or resentment. Instead, there is an underlying sense of compassion and hope. The end of a relationship doesn’t necessarily erase the care we have for another person, and Zoe uses that reality to explore what it might look like to continue pointing someone toward Jesus even when the relationship itself is over.
The song is also a great example of Zoe’s ability to find Christian themes in situations that feel very real and contemporary. “Sharing Jesus With an Ex” isn’t a traditional worship song, and that’s part of its appeal. It takes faith out of the sanctuary and puts it into the complicated circumstances of everyday relationships, where forgiveness, compassion and genuine concern for another person can be much harder—and much more meaningful.
The accompanying music video adds another layer to the song and gives listeners a chance to experience Zoe’s personality alongside its message. For FishWorship, “Sharing Jesus With an Ex” is an easy choice for Zoe’s Essential Songs: it’s distinctly Christian, refreshingly unconventional, and a wonderful example of an artist willing to write about faith in ways that don’t always follow the expected formula.
