“Great Is the Lord” – The Martins
Every week here at FishWorship, we take a little time to pause and enjoy a song that gives us another reason to praise God. Sometimes it’s a familiar favorite, sometimes it’s a song that deserves to be heard again, but each week our hope is the same—to share music that encourages us and points our hearts back toward Him. This week, our Praise Song of the Week is “Great Is The Lord” by The Martins.

There are some songs that we enjoy simply because they sound good, and then there are songs that become connected to memories, people, and moments in our lives. “Great Is The Lord” by The Martins is one of those songs for our FishWorship founder. It is a song that has been enjoyed many times over the years, and its simple message of praise continues to resonate just as strongly today.
For this week’s Praise Song of the Week, we’re presenting a live performance of “Great Is The Lord” by The Martins at a Gaither event. There is something special about hearing The Martins perform this song in a live setting. Their distinctive harmonies bring a warmth and sincerity to the performance, while the setting itself reminds us that worship is something we experience together. This isn’t simply a song about God’s greatness; it’s an opportunity to join in that declaration with others.
This particular song also has a special connection to this week’s Monday Memories. “Great Is The Lord” was one of the primary songs our FishWorship founder enjoyed at Metro Bible Study, making it a natural choice for this week’s feature. Music has a remarkable way of preserving memories. A song that was heard regularly in a Bible study or worship setting can become intertwined with the people, conversations, fellowship, and faith that surrounded it. Hearing that song again years later can bring those memories back in a way that words alone often cannot.
And that’s one of the things we love about Christian music here at FishWorship. The songs we sing and listen to aren’t always just songs. Sometimes they become part of our story. They remind us where we’ve been, who we’ve shared those moments with, and—most importantly—what God has done in our lives along the way.
“Great Is The Lord” is ultimately a straightforward declaration of praise, and perhaps that’s exactly what makes it so enduring. We don’t always need complicated words to express our faith. Sometimes we simply need to stop, remember who God is, and say what this song has been saying all along: Great is the Lord, and He is worthy of our praise.
